Our Story

Where we started

Our local assembly dates back to 1889. It was then that a group of believers started the Cleveland Sunday School in the in the Yuma community of Gate City, VA.  Over the years it grew into a church called Laurel Hill Baptist Church.  Then in 1913 a new building was erected and the church was renamed Oak Glen Baptist Church.

"Let God ever be in the midst of the church, let His Spirit dominate it, and its influence would not only put the community on the highest grounds, but would start a wave that would reach the most distant sections of the earth."

-Rev. L.W. Smith (at the dedication of the church building)

"...and the lord added to the church daily..."

For ninety-five years people came from all over the community to worship at the Oak Glen Baptist Church.  The Lord blessed and continued to add onto our local church.  Through His direction and leading, a new church building was built a half mile from the original building.  It was completed and dedicated in 2008.

Where we are headed...

In 2018 the Lord allowed us to complete a new multi-purpose Fellowship Hall.
This new space allows us to expand our children's ministries, hold special services for larger crowds, and minister to the community through special events.

Throughout the history of the Oak Glen Baptist Church, the Lord has continued to supply each need as we look to expand our outreach and glorify God.

"Remembering the past; reaching the future."
